I don't want to get into a debate about whether this man is guilty or not but the 60's are a long time ago. After the passage of over 50 years, is it possible for anybody to remember exactly where he was on a certain day ?

\\\\\So what you are saying is that possibly you could have had unwanted sexual intercourse with a young woman but because it was normal to resist you went ahead!!\\\

Yes.

\\\That is despicable! \\\

Your opinion is noted and respected.
that would be rape, then.
You sound proud Sqad
The CPS will have to have decided whether it was in the public interest to proceed. What kind of message does it send out when victims finally come forward and nothing is done? Especially after the case of Saville himself.

With a number of the accused I imagine a number of different allegations from different girls at different times, especially unconnected individuals. Who knows, there ma be a similar theme to them, could be all kinds of things.

In this case, the charges are:

Two indecent assaults in relation to a 14-year-old girl in 1965
One indecent assault in relation to a 16-year-old girl in 1965
One indecent assault in relation to a girl aged 13 or 14 in 1968
One indecent assault in relation to a girl aged 11 or 12 in 1968

It was not a one off historic incident where it's one's word against each other.
Deduce what ever suits your moral standings.
mine are pretty high
Wasn't it the case in the olden days a little resistance was expected? A gentleman wouldn't stop at the first rebuff, but he would at the second.
mikey - is that how you expected your thread to end up?

Good game, good game!
sandy....;-)..........exactly.

sara..........if you say so.
mine are obviously higher than yours Sqad!
"if you say so" wouldn't get you very far in the witness stand.
FGT....this is getting boring now with you and sara saying the same thing.
Hold the front page....."3 women in agreement over man's reprehensible behaviour"-shocker.........
I apologise that more than 1 person finds your actions abhorant!!
It was a different time - young barmaids dressed to attract men, expected to have their bottoms slapped - hopefully they were tough enough to make it clear 'enough is enough'.
St Trinians was first released in the early 50s; many sitcoms and comedies had old men leering at supposedly underage girls; Benny Hill was considered funny.

We have thankfully progressed from then. I'm not saying that it ever was acceptable to knowingly be inappropriate with or assault underage girls but in the 50s school leaving age was 15 and girls that age were doing a days work no different to her adult workmate.
Oh dear...make that 4.
The defence can always apply that the prosecution should be stayed; we still have a plea that continuing is against the interests of justice, rarely used; but I bet it won't get them far. Their best line is a bit of good cross-examination. What is worrying is the possibility that the offences alleged have some striking similarity which independent complainants remember.

It's practically unheard of for complaints of this nature to be brought to trial this many years after the alleged events. Cases of incest are often brought decades later but that's usually because the victim, often prompted by fear that young members of the family are now being so assaulted by the father or grandfather, decides to speak out. And, of course, advances in DNA testing may mean that old cases of rape can be prosecuted when previously they could not.
We had stilletos to deter the more amorous. I agree that abusing an 11y old is OOOrder.

It's unbelievable what Sqad is saying. This is probably the same kind of crap that Bill Roache came out with, thinking it was normal.
It amounts to an admission of rape, which is probably why they think they've got enough evidence to get a conviction.
//He confessed to having bedded a thousand women over the years//
I thought at the time he was crazy to say that - now I bet he is regretting boasting about it.
