I truly believe that (maintains a straight face).

That being the case - should they be encouraged to organise a 'Not In Our Name' march in order to distance themselves from the recent rise in attacks on Muslim mosques and schools.

There is no evidence to suggest that the EDL are in any way responsible for these recent attacks, but if it turns out that these arson attacks have been carried out by people associated with the EDL, or heaven forfend, the BNP - is it not sensible to demand that they take to the streets to protect their good name?

(Wow...I was able to type that last sentence without my finger pads bursting into flame - wonders indeed will never cease).

I am 100% sure I didn't say it, but whatever I did say, you obviously found offensive, so for that, I apologise, because that certainly wasn't the intent.
whilst i am not going to keep this going, you did, and i wasn't the only one to bring it up at the time.
Em, I said I knew what you meant, but clearly I didn’t. I thought you were talking about culture rather than colour. Sorry.
sp you wrote inter alia:

//should they be encouraged to organise a 'Not In Our Name' march in order to distance themselves //

definitely a free speech thing....

should people be allowed to express themselves freely ?
yes definitely

I agree the other posters are arguing about something else

Hmmm...I see my apology means nothing to you.

But to be honest, I've just re-read it, and it IS pretty mealy-mouthed. One of those apologies that politicians mean when they absolutely don't mean it.

Anyway...to say that you don't mind living in an area where whites are in a minority isn't offensive. You may find it so, but...y'know...that's weird.

Enjoy the rest of your day...I'm off to Thailand later today, so I'm hanging up my AB for a couple of weeks.

Bye!!!
The Muslims have much more blood on their hands than the EDL have ever had, or likely to have, thank goodness, so if one group should be taking to the streets in protest against certain murderous individuals amongst their believers it should be them.
Anyone hear Tommy Robinson on Radio 4 this morning?

.....oh dear oh dear......
no i listen to music, it's better for the soul.,
yes, as jake points out, some ABers (non-Muslims, I would guess) demand that Muslims spend all their time denouncing violence rather than getting on with their work; so it seems only fair to suggest the reverse.

I sometimes wonder just how much time these ABers spend marching to denounce EDL violence?

Personally, I don't think anyone is under any obligation to make their opinion known on any subject at all.
True, but I like Radio 4 comedy.

Perhaps there are many who didn't, so before we make judgement perhaps we should be given the opportunity to listen.

well when the country descends into all out anarchy, and the factions are killing one another, which side will you support.

That's fair enough if some Muslims stop child abductions, bombing, murdering, and decapitating people, then I am sure some EDL members will stop throwing a few bottles at their opponents.
Ok AOG, so what will make 'some of' them stop sending emails with verbal threats, death threats and intimidation aimed at journalists and photographers covering EDL marches?
Tommy Robinson:
"Our tactics are completely questionable... But what choice do we have?"

Poor lad. Condemned by society to a life of thuggish bigotry :-)

/// More tea and biscuits is what is required, on both sides. If we all made an effort to get to know each other, perhaps we would get on a little better. ///

What chance in that, since it seems you have already offensively stereotyped one half?

/// The EDL are just the normal shaven-headed, uneducated, racists that the extreme right have always been. ///

They are not all shaven headed even though it is normal fashion for many young men to shave their heads, regarding uneducated how would you know that? Racist???????? Islam is not a race.

So be careful before you accuse others of being 'uneducated'.

/// Lets stop giving these idiots the oxygen of publicity. ///

It's called free speech.
I'm all for free speech, even for the EDL.

I am minded of all the fuss that was made when Griffin appeared on Question Time. I was all for it because I could see the outcome of his appearance as plain as day. He made a complete tw*t of himself, on prime time TV and support for his Party, never very strong to start with, collapsed completely. The Party has all but disappeared without trace. They are now all but inaudible, like a fart heard from the other side of the hill.

Every time the EDL appears on the nightly news, Nazi-saluting, they knock another nail in their own coffin.
If anybody wants any more evidence of the intelligence behind the EDL, please see this highly articulate chap being interviewed ::::

Mikey, he's clearly the English Dense League's Special Correspondent, with the emphasis on "Special"...
