UK Feminista want Tesco to pull "Lads Mags" from their shelves because of the negative effect they have on men and women. You can join their campaign and read a little more here: http://www.losetheladsmags.org.uk/

The biggest lads mags are Nuts, Zoo, FHM and Loaded

Question Author
Here's their statement:

"Lads’ mags promote sexist attitudes and behaviours. They normalise the idea that it’s acceptable to treat women like sex objects. Yet despite widespread criticism over the years, high-street supermarkets and newsagents have continued to display and sell these degrading and harmful publications. But customers and shop employees don’t have to put up with it any longer."

What do you think?
Do you mean the proper mucky stuff or those like Nuts and Gay Times?
I think it's a bit old-fashioned now. It's fine for adults to buy mags/DVDs if they want to. But i don't like Page 3 over my breakfast(!) and i don't think it gives a good message to my sons and daughters when it is so available.
Fine.... lose the plethora of "womencentric" publications on the shelves for fairness!!

Pardon the pun but this is bolloxs, the lefty PC mob bug me more and more as we veer away from what most of us would deem as harmless. I like looking at attractive women, the memsahib likes looking at fit blokes ( rather than middle aged fat and bald... ;-) ). These magazines have a place the same as every other publication if this campaign wins it's another step towards cencorship and the freedom of mind we hold dear. If I don't want to look at something I won't look at it doesn't mean it shouldn't be there though

Now, let me think................
Have I ever seen a UK Feministan that I would want to see in a Lads Mag?
Wow, that's a tough one......................
I voted No.
First target: Tesco? Why not go alphabetically and start with Asda?
'"Lads’ mags promote sexist attitudes and behaviours. They normalise the idea that it’s acceptable to treat women like sex objects. '

I think they're a bit behind the times with their thinking.
UK Feminista send out the wrong message too imo.
Does the proposal include Cosmopolitan and it's imitators or are they only there for fashion tips?
Based on the statement - "The biggest lads mags are Nuts, Zoo, FHM and Loaded", I voted No.

I don't understand that? You mean if you wouldn't like to see a woman topless and airbrushed you're not going to listen to her opinion?Or have I misunderstood?
Question Author
I wonder if you really feel that lady-mags are more damaging to the way women look at men, or whether they're just another way for women to apply judgement to their own form?
'to see a woman topless and airbrushed you're not going to listen to her opinion'

I know, taken out of context, but in a national newspaper on page 3 you can read Susie's thoughts on global warming (for example)

(I'm not actually looking for an argument, just playing devil's advocate :) )
The first Mr Craft used to buy Playboy.................I loved the problem pages.

Should I maybe have added a ;o) to that Ed, to make me somewhat tongue in cheek stance clearer?

"I know, taken out of context, but in a national newspaper on page 3 you can read Susie's thoughts on global warming (for example)"

I think they'd like to tackle that as well, in time. Just because someone else does something doesn't mean it's right.

I wonder if things like playboy are considered better or worse?

Maybe Baldric!

Now if they were to tackle Global Warming ED, I'd be more impressed!
