A new group calling itself Islamic Emergency Defence (IED - which also stands for Improvised Explosive Device) has been launched. Its slogan is ‘Beware the Lions of Tawheed – Defending the Muslim Community’ - (Tawheed means attributing Oneness to Allah and describing Him as being One and Unique, with no partner or peer in His Essence and Attributes) – and its purpose is to defend the Muslim community – but against what?

Julie Siddiqi of the Islamic Society of Britain called the group “inflammatory”, but Anjem Choudary greeted the IED’s arrival by tweeting “Good news with the launch”, and saying that it had “risen to the challenge”. What challenge?

The website states "however, if one is unable to defend themselves physically, for example Muslim sisters, then we urge that as much information regarding the incident is preserved so it can be dealt with in a swift and Islamic manner."

What exactly is this 'swift and islamic manner'?

chrigel, some don't see the logic in that do they...
beheading perhaps, that seems the Islamic way.

Chris, //Why within the boundaries of Islam. //

I strongly suspect because the boundaries of Islam extend to fighting - and killing - anyone who is perceived to be anti-Islam.
that's us gone then, oh well it was nice knowing you..

Em, these people are dangerous.
i am only too well aware of that, sometime a jest is better than the thoughts of what might be coming...
The fundamentalist Muslims will never be at peace. Like fundamentalist Christians they eagerly await the coming of the final showdown when their god comes and wipes out most of the life on the planet leaving only the true believers.

Both sides are convinced they are on the winning side. Fact is that everyone will lose.

Atheists need to stand up in their millions and say enough is enough or the destruction of life as we know it is inevitable because that is exactly what the religious want to happen.
Naomi - Exactly my point. There are hundreds of different religious faiths practised in the UK. I believe that this alone indicates our tolerance towards religion in general. We only seem to have a problem with Islam and I think that the reasons for this should be obvious.
Islam is a pushy, aggressive and violent religion. It's stated aims are to convert the world to it's faith and it has no intention of abiding by the laws of any country that it descends upon.
It has used the "liberalism" of the many countries in Europe that they have moved to to get laws changed in it's favour and to establish Sharia courts. IMO this is just the thin end of a very large and painful wedge that needs addressing.
If it isn't, then I believe our grandchildren will inherit a very different world to the one we know now and will have every reason to curse us for not tackling the problem. IMO
Those who stand for violent conflict on either side are playing into the hands of those who eagerly await Armageddon.
thing is as an atheist i can't see what i would be capable of doing to prevent the fanatics from killing us all, do you know?
They are 'defending' the same kind of thing that the EDL purports to 'defend' - their own sense of supremacy (in this case religiously inspired rather than national, but I don't much care for either).
Muslims want to defend themselves against what they term "the enemies if Islam".

This means anyone who resists their ultimate domination of the planet.

Foolish liberal democracies have welcomed their quiet invasion.
Krom, do you honestly think that the people who join EDL think of themselves as superior, supreme, i really can't see that.
yeah, I do.
It is obviously and flagrantly a deliberately inflammatory and provocative attempt to stir up unrest and martial discord amongst muslim youth in Britain.

The UK aspires to be a peaceful, lawful, secular, liberal and tolerant community. There is no need or requirement for organisations like the EDL, and no need for this outfit either, both representing a vigilante mindset. This is what the police are for, to stop mobs roaming the street looking to do violence on the flimsiest of pretexts.

Hate and intolerance born out of fear breeds hate and intolerance in response, creating a vortex into which more people are drawn, and is exactly what agitators like Choudhary want.

It is plainly no accident that this groups initials spell out the same acronym that has become so associated in the minds of the public with the death of servicemen. It is designed deliberately to be offensive and provocative. To claim it is "coincidence" is just a convenient excuse.

Lets hope the majority muslims in the UK treat Choudhary and such organisations with the contempt they deserve, much as the majority of the UK public treat the EDL with the contempt they deserve.......
They definitely think of themselves as superior. It is part and parcel of the Abrahamic philosophy.

The believers are always God's chosen people. The only argument is about which is the one true god. Why do you think Muslims and Jews hate each other so much?

Do what god says and don't think about it.
Oh, and on a slightly lighter note - Haven't the Sun done well with that photo of Choudhary?

Nearly as good a demonic depiction as that old Tory advertising campaign with the demonic Blairs eyes poster... :)
wish they hadn't, show him as he is, that is much more effective....
Interesting.

An observation that West Bromich is swarming with Poles is allowed to stay on AB, but a similar observation that Westminster is swarming with another minority is censored and removed.

Obviously, double standards apply on AB.
