Perhaps he was sacked for stupidity? In these days when nearly everyone has a mobile phone capable of recording conversations he should have thought first.
Right-on Mickey.

Maybe I'm old fashioned Sandy but I would have preferred this chap hadn't made the remark because it was a nasty racist thing for a professional policeman to do, rather than he feared being found out. What about all the times when there wasn't a handy Mobile phone near by to expose his behaviour ?

The reality is that if the arrested man had made a complaint, but hadn't the evidence to prove it, this officer would still be serving in the Met, as it is highly unlikely that a black man would believed over a white police officer.

But we must be thankful that the Met referred this affair to the IPCC. Of course, I'm sure that this would have happened even if the Guardian hadn't released the recording made on the phone. After all to think otherwise would just be seen as cynical wouldn't it ?
No sure we should rejoice because an officer gets the sack because it highlights a failure in the recruiting system.

I would rather no one gets the sack, and un suitable people (like the ones in all the link) get no where near policing the public in the first place.
