Not always footballers.

Young men pumped with alcohol and testosterone have a Propensity for this kind of thing. We live in a society where women are objectified rather than respected. And where alcohol related crimes are accepted.

Let's hope your daughter is never attacked then Steve. Lovely conclusion jumping there, shame it's not an Olympic event, we'd get a gold with you playing for us.
I find some of the remarks on here astonishing.
Well maybe she had a mini skirt on Craft, that'd make it her own fault :(
The trouble is Crafty that there appears to be no sensible, moderate way of discussing anything like this.

Either "all women are innocent (and probably virgins) and all men are vile beasts"

Or "all women are calculating slappers and all men are innocents being entrapped"

The truth is (as ever) somewhere between the two polarised opposites and we have no way at all of knowing what the circumstances actually were in this case.

Speculation is (at best) futile and (at worst) repulsive - whichever end of the spectrum you are coming from.

Funny how when Nigella Lawson's husband allegedly strangled her all the boys on here came out in droves to say how they would have 'flattened him' and 'sorted him out', but some faceless girl says they've been gang raped and they're automatically a slapper. I personally think that is outrageous double standards.
Dave I find the remarks from mikey and Steve.5 to be extraordinary. The police seem to think an offence has been committed as they have arrested 3 men.
All we need to make a full set of ignorance would be the old "she was probably gagging for it" pearl of wisdom.
Actually I didn't take offence at yours doc, I can see that was intended as an off colour joke, but Steve's was just repulsive.
They are indeed tasteless Crafty - but the automatic assumption that the young men are guilty (an arrest means nothing - it may not even lead to a charge let alone a conviction) is not much better.

I think these threads are inherently wrong and probably shouldn't be encouraged.
I didn't see anyone assuming they were guilty though Dave, just people knocking the woman who made the complaint.

I don't want a fight - I'm trying hard to "hold the middle ground" and avoid any jumping to conclusions either way.

But "Let's hope your daughter is never attacked then Steve" is based firmly on the cast iron assumption that this was an attack - which is no more acceptable than Steve's assumption that there wasn't. It's less offensively put, but still wrong.
No it's not, the police are investigating a suspected attack, hence my choice of words. That's why these men have been arrested. I have no quarrell with you Dave, everyone should be considered innocent until proven otherwise, but I would have thought that extends rather particularly to the alleged victim.
