I've never yet met an addict who encourages others to get hooked, and I have known a lot of addicts over the years. Most of them would strenuously advise you to stay away from drugs as they know the hell it has caused them to suffer.

The lack of sympathy on this thread is awful, although not shocking really. This man had people who loved him, they are grieving him and all you lot can do is think "great, one less addict/druggy in the world".

It is strange how it is always the people whose only knowledge of drugs is what the press feed them, who are quickest to condemn and criticise.

I find it very difficult to summon any sympathy for drug addicts. They put themselves into the position that they find themselves in. Young people today hero worship their idols. These idols should be aware that the less intelligent amongst their fans will copy everything they do, including stupid activities like taking drugs. So, hence the lack of empathy from me.

Mikey, to start with nobody in this site actually knows his death was anything to do with drugs, however likely it may seem.

And if it is do you honestly believe any kid is going to go think, yeah that looks like fun. Think ill destroy my life like this geezer too. No. Intact I'm pretty sure the only footprints this guy has left behind are the mountains of ruddy glee clubs that have been set up.

I'm not familiar with the actor,but surely his honesty about his addiction,and his desire/willingness says something about him.
Yes-addicts make a choice-but that is only in the early stages-then it is taken out of their hands as addiction takes over. Some are lucky/stronger,whatever at resisting. Some will make numerous attempts at getting better. Some will succeed...many will fail.
Its no good being judgemental unless you see it first hand.
