Where can I look up news ( past and present, world, local, all news)? Can anyone recommend a good site?

Most newspapers have their own web sites and there are a number of sites give summaries from various papers.  Everyone will have their own favourite.  One of mine is commondreams.org which will also e-mail its extracts free (although they appreciate the occasional voluntary donation).

Thanks, I am acturally trying to research some old news a few years back.
The BBC website has a good news archive.

Ditto what shaneystar said.  I tried to say that earlier, but my computer played up.  It's a good job this is an answerbank with LOTS of helpful people!

It's probably pretty obvious, but the archive shaneystar mentioned has a very good search facility too!
