Why can't these gangs really try and get on with each other, do they have to carry on against each other, even when they are on holiday?

One has to ask why would a 19 year old a male model who is studying towards an Economics degree at Northampton University, need to be in a gang?

/// Can i please have the evidence of my abuse to you ///

/// If a woman had posted that heading about men 'Is This Just Chauvenism Rearing It's Ugly Head?, you would have been jumping up and down screaming for your dummy!! ///

This type of thing just festers ill feeling, there is no need for it, just as there is no need to threaten me by threatening to send an email to the ed.
Oh its not a threat anotheroldgit if you can provide evidence that I have been abusive to you - and that ed has missed it I will quite happily email him with our evidence asking for his judgement.

Especially as you seem to think my abuse of you is so great - so still waiting!

I didn't really expect such tripe from you VHG.
i don't think the murderers of Stephen Lawrence were middle class,
however another life lost, whether it is tribal or not, a bloody waste.
Been out shopping for birthday presents (avoid Oxford Street people...it's horrible out there), so I've missed the cut and thrust of this thread.

AOG - you asked, "Why can't these gangs really try and get on with each other, do they have to carry on against each other, even when they are on holiday?"

It's because they are gangs.

You may as well ask "Why don't the Inter City Firm and the Bushwackers all get along when they encounter each other on holiday.

It's just not what these kinds of gangs are all about.

Gangs of rival football hooligans and turf war gangs don't put their differences aside and enjoy paddling together when on holiday.

The idea is...Monty Pythonish.

In fact, now that I think of it, I might see if I can write that into my stand-up routine (yes folks...signed up to do an open mic).
"Oh its not a threat anotheroldgit"

what is it then ?

you sound just like somebody else on this board who seems to have their own set of rules regarding what they can say and whos allowed to reply, seperated at birth by any chance
I was stating a fact.

Sorry the rest of your post makes no sense to me.
I really don't think class has anything to do with gang culture it's the Lord of the flies thing the need to establish pecking order and dominance.a basic failing in the whole animal world...particularly but not exclusively amongst the male of the species, including mankind.
London doesn't come out of this very well, what a surprise

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangs_in_the_United_Kingdom
it's unlikely that middle class or upper class blokes form gangs, it's often poor working class kids, those who need some status in life, to belong, to be part of a family, if their own has gone walkabout, or that they don't get a sense of belong, so the gang will be part of that family,
when you look at the like of the Krays, they were white working class, as were most of their associates...
gangs are not the preserve of the working class by a long chalk

thats not a gang for heavens sake. That is a bunch of privileged blokes.
one example out of hundreds of gangs across the country, London has more than it;s fair share.
I think we should be careful of the word 'gang'.

I was in several gangs through my childhood and teenage years. And there are gangs of kids all over the country who simpy hang out, swap X-Box games and spend endless hours discussing the merits of Kelly Brooke, Jason Statham films and the seemingly endless 'Drake vs Macklemore' issue.

A gang isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Bad kids make bad gangs.

Gangs don't make bad kids.
wise words from sp1814. Asking why gangs don't get along togethetr is like asking why the Royal Watercolour Society doesn't fix cars. It's just not what they're for. But it's equally pointless to define gangs as "people who do bad things"; it may make you feel superior, but it isn't true.
