Yes it is disturbing. Why would any sane person do things like that?

A man has now been arrested http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23485610
good

@ RobKep - No, it is not. What happens when we have a King? Should we replace all men on the other side of the note with women for balance?

Glad to hear someone has been arrested. If ever a communication falls into the category of malicious communication, threats of rape and worse fall into that....

Yes, we do have a Queen - and our banknotes display the Head of State on the front of the notes.

The back of the notes has become the preserve for famous Britons. There are many famous female britons throughout our history, and they have been under-represented.

Given that women represent 50% of the population and that there are continuing issues over their representation in boardrooms, in senior administrative roles, in parliament - surely it should not be that big a deal to find room for 1 or 2 famous female britons on the reverse of our notes?

the issue the op raised is about a woman being systematically targeted with rape threats

I heard the woman in question say on the radio that it takes approx 5 mins to report each Twitter, and she has that many that it will probably take her a week to report each one !.

You're lucky rob, but perhaps as a bloke you wouldn't see us females desperately competing for equal pay for the same job, in those days. It might have passed you by, I was there. Nothing about super-equality or special treatment, just to be paid the same and have the same promotion opportunities as the equally-qualified blokes.
^sorry - that was from me, not nibble.
@RobKep "I wanted to say that during my career I never encountered sexism or any other discrimination. I honestly believe as an enlightened civilised society (dare I say it) some types are not content with equality."

Then I think you have been exceptionally lucky. No question that it existed and that it still exists. There have been big improvements, but that does not mean we have reached anything like a level playing field.

@Robkep - There is plenty of evidence to show that things are improving, sure, but there is also plenty of evidence to suggest that we still have a long way to go, both in recognising true equality for women and for those from an ethnic minority background, come to that....

@RobKep. How is it "pulling the racist card" to point out that there is still inequality in our society, both gender and race -based, come to that?

It your myopia extends to calling recognition of that a "brand", well I guess that speaks volumes....
