/// Yes, emmie, but there is an ascribable reason for calling anyone whose views, political or otherwise, are contrary to one's own 'stupid' or, if you will , 'a knuckle dragger' viz. their views are stupid or those only to be held by someone primitive. ///
So it would be quite permissible to call an individual or a group of people 'stupid' or 'knuckle draggers' who views are held by someone primitive, even if their skin colour happens to be non white?

/// So you agree with the mental image of a black man with a spear, rings around the neck and bone through his nose as he played "Bongo" drums to communicate to others in nearby villages as this was the actual racist image he had in his head and which he was trying to portray to us. ///
What a load of tosh, that maybe your mental image of a black man, but it certainly isn't one of most including this politicians, unless of course you are some form of mind reader?
I don't find the phrase 'Bongo-Bongo Land' offensive, but I certainly find your description of a black man totally offensive.

President Bongo handed over to his son Omar Bongo who failed to drum up enough support
As for Mr Bloom if he wants to make himself understood he should express himself in the language he uses in his subsequent 'explanations'. It would save him and everyone else a lot of trouble and it wouldn't have people laughing at him and his party

Yes, AOG, calling a black man whose political views are stupid or only to be associated with the undeveloped, primitive, mind a knuckle dragger is no different from calling a white opponent that. Can you not see that?
And if the recipients of our misdirected largesse were white , what would you call them or their countries collectively? Is there "a Bongo Bongo land " full of white people? Or if there were , what would you call it?

Kramer...I agree with most of what you have said, apart from the last sentence. Surely if Bloom has achieved anything in the last 24 hours, its being hounded by the media.
The irony of this rather dense man is his message had some validity in that we should be concerned about wasting foreign aid. But his intemperate and childish use of language has ensured that the subject is not being discussed at all. All he has achieved is put himself on the pillory, rather than start a sensible debate.

I've already suggested it would have to be called Honkyland. As in ..
'It's a shame we're so damn poor that we still have to rely on aid from Honkyland' said the minor African politician in a speech recently. He later stated he meant no offence, and didn't understand what all the fuss was about.
