Sadly, he liked 'the sauce' a bit too much
I mey him several times socially (he was friends with a friend of mine) and I don't think I ever saw him sober LOL
The first time we met was at The Ivy when he came over to chat wth my friend after he and Mike Mansfield had enjoyed a particularly 'good' lunch at a nearby table.
Sir David was convinced he and I already knew each other very well and we never looked back - neither my friend nor I ever worked out who he initially mistook me for.
A massive influencer and innovator - sad to lose him.

Huge influence on television in many fields.
Without him there may never have been the Two Ronnies or Monty Python.
Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett appeared together in the Frost Report and when they were looking for who to appear in a sketch people said "how about the two ronnies", hence the TV show name.
And John Cleese appeared in the Frost Report, and all the other Pythons wrote for the show (and sometimes appeared in sketches).
