Or would some welcome her with open arms if she were to flee to Britain seeking political asylum?

What has she done to justify having her citizenship revoked?
It's not clear to me that we should even expect Asma Assad to come to this country, and if she does I don't think we should blame her even one iota for what's going on in Syria. Assuming the Syrian situation to be as bad, and as much Assad's fault, as has been portrayed, what a horrible situation she must be in! On an admittedly larger and far more bloody scale she's facing a dilemma that has plagued so many other people in love throughout history. Her husband, or everyone else? In theory, it should be an easy choice in cases like these -- but of course it never is. She might feel, or indeed might actually be, trapped. Or, perhaps, she is complicit in a conspiracy of silence herself.

Either way, stripping her of UK Citizenship would achieve nothing.
no to the first question

yes if she promises to buy the daily mail and not wear a burkha
Only if we agree a parallel sanction against Samantha Cameron if we don't happen to be on side with her husband's actions.

What, you mean remove her Syrian citizenship, Andy?
Fair play NJ.

I was a little careless in my posting, I meant to add a 'suitable' parallel sanction - obvious like-for-like is not available.

I was trying to highlight the ludicrous option of sanctioning a woman for action by her husband - should I snub the newagent's wife in the street because my paper was not delivered this morning?

Ridiculous!!!

And you failed yet again Andy, one can hardly compare snubbing the wife of a newsagent because one's newspaper was not delivered, to that of a wife of a dictator accused of gassing innocent women and children.
Actually AOG - one can.

The point is not the seriousness of the actions by the husband - it is in innocence of the wife.

I used an inocuous comparison to highlight the flaw in the argument - you cannot visit punishment on the relatives of anyone for their actions - from newsagents to dictators - the rule is the same.

Should we have also welcomed Eva Braun, if she had chose to come to Britain in 1945?
If, as you aver there is a difference between newsagents and ditcators, then there is a difference betwen Asaad and Hitler - I am sure as a student of history you do not need me to detail them for you AOG.

AOG

Seriously...what has Assad's wife actually done?

Also, isn't your Eva Braun comparison off the mark? Seeing as she was a German citizen...?

This is a very confusing thread to me...
Why shouldn't we have welcome Eva Braun? But she never would have come anyway, choosing Hitler over everyone else -- so it's a pointless question.

It seems that North Korea do exactly that. Offenders, I use that term loosely, machine-gunned, relatives sent to labour camp.

no, but it's unlikely she would be particularly welcome as the wife of a despot, one who is seemingly killing his own citizens, then again Mugabe has been here, so who knows.
maybe that's what makes andy-hughes different from Kim Jong-un, marje?

That and the knowledge of music.
we also let this person in

Augusto Pinochet

According to various reports and investigations 1,200–3,200 people were killed, up to 80,000 were interned, and up to 30,000 were tortured by his government including women and children.
we do business we these people, sad fact of life i am afraid, if we didn't sell goods to tin pot dictators, tyrants, and petty bureaucrats, including in the EU, then likely we wouldn't sell much. As to Assad's wife, well she can come here, but he won't be afforded that luxury i would think.
strange really as didn't some cheer when Abu Qatada, or was it Abu Hamza's family moved out,
