We all know that such things happened during the times of slavery, but should such graphic films be made, as I am sure they do nothing to foster good race relations?

There were also many horrific things carried out by black persons against the whites in past times, but could anyone envisage a film showing such happenings ever being made as well as directed by a white person?

I'll start then...

Black Hawk Down and Captain Philips.
plenty, sure there must be a film some where or other about Captain Cook, his demise wasn't particularly pleasant..

Yes and yet another film showing the white man as the villain of the piece once again, regardless of if it being directed by a white man.

And have you ever wondered why you do not see such Tarzan films now?

Sorry - I don't understand what you're saying.

Are you not familiar with Black Hawk Down, The Last King of Scotland or American Gangster.

You know what? There may be another reason why there have been so few black villains in Hollywood movies - and that may be because if a part has been written which could either be played by a black or white person, Hollywood will default to whoever draws in the biggest crowd.

Now...think about it - how many leading black actors can you name?

Perhaps it's all down to numbers - have you thought about that.?
Probably for the same reason we don't see much of the Harold lloyd, Buster Keaton, Olly & Hardy shows any more. For one thing, they are all dead (even Cheetah died in 2011 aged 80) and gone out of fashion and another thing is that films cost money to air, whereas as Flog It and Cash in the Attic are cheap tat TV already commissioned and paid for, and repeated ad infinitum.
they did make a Tarzan movie a while back with Christopher Lambert i think?

last man standing, anyway i got bored about half or less the way through, like many American films, aimed at teens, they seem to be about some hero saving the world from destruction, as though no where else exists....

actually as i have pointed out before the Barbary Pirates did a pretty good job over time of rounding up and enslaving Europeans, most never saw their homelands again, the figures are high, and though this was over a period of time and centuries ago, let us not forget that it isn't only the white man who enslaves others
they rarely make films i like, one of the reasons i more or less stopped going. there are the exceptions of course, but i am not into gore fests, or horror, ripping people to shreds kind of stuff. I literally hate the following, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, positively dislike Will Ferrell, and more besides.
AOG - in reference to your reference to Django Unchained - have you seen the film?

If so you will be aware that the bounty hunter who gives Django his freedom and reunites him with his wife is in fact, not only white but - gasp! - a European!
