This report explains a lot and frankly comes as no surprise to me. I live quite near to a refuge for abused Muslim women and children but I don't believe there are many such facilities in the UK.

No surprise at all.

We could have made big inroads to this sort of thing if New labour had not resorted to calling people racists or little Englanders for highlighting problems.

The PC brigade have a lot to answer for.
Bring in people from third world countries you bring in third world problems.

Arranged marriages, honour killings, human sacrifice (yes honestly), fraud and corruption, AIDS, crime, drug pushing.....

This country has certainly been dragged down a notch or two in the last 20 years.
i posted a question the other week which got one response on a programme i watched about the abuse, grooming of young Sikh girls by Muslim men, this is here in UK and still going on. The saddest part is that some of the girls have been sent away from their homes because the shame for the family, and that they say they can't protect them here, so almost blaming the girls, whilst these men have been getting away with this for years.
The Sikh elder said that the families should speak out and help put these men behind bars. That is a message that seems to be have been sadly ignored for years.

It used to be that way for most girls (and boys) in Britain 30 years and more ago, emmie.
Sex offences and abuse swept under the carpet because of the 'shame'.
perhaps, but this has been large scale grooming, girls passed around like cigarettes, the discarded when they were done, when you see the programme on the sikh girls, one wonders why the families didn't go straight to the police from day one, instead of packing some of the girls off to foreign countries, one lass is now in USA with a foster type family, how sad and worrying is that. I hope they bring all these men to book for their vile behaviour, they got to the girls by pretending to be from their religion, community, befriended them, and the rest you can guess
i wouldn't say most, though i would say that having a child out of wedlock was shameful and you would likely end up in a mother and baby unit and the child be given up for adoption. Thank goodness we have moved on from that, but these cases are just as disturbing.
