These people don't deserve to have kids if they are going to be happy whether its a boy or a girl or not. I'm really getting wound up now. I'm going outside to take my anger out on my cement mixer.
Having done a bit of genealogy, I have to say that I have seen actual cases of
girl, girl, girl, girl, girl, girl, boy
and no more babies after that.
All this undoubtedly revolves around 'preserving the family name'. It's not a 'syndrome' but, if it had to have a name, I'd call it "Henry-the-Eighth-ism"
Isn't it strange how we value a surname more highly than a life?

some well to do families relied on male heirs not just to preserve the family name but the estate, as property, estates, did not go to the girls in the family, so if no male heir the whole kit and caboodle could go to a distant male relative, so money, estate effectively lost. Much of that has changed thank goodness, but still it's how many families kept the name, estate alive, by having a male heir to follow on.
I agree entirely. A healthy baby is a healthy baby and it's shameful people think this way. As i said on the other thread, the other day, it probably is legal, because the reasons are so vague- if it affects the physical or psychological welfare of the mother. I would suggest moving the limit for abortion on demand to maybe twelve weeks, except in extreme cases of health /disability. I know "abortion on demand" doesn't officially exist, but we all know it does. I don't think you can tell the sex of a foetus up to that stage, either.
