// Gromit, your usual blase stance rather worries me. This is a real threat and the last think we want is a return to right extremism in Europe. The so called liberal 'elite' ignored this 60 years ago //
The fascist National Front Party in France was founded in 1972, long before the EU existed. In their time they have won councillors, MEPs and MPs. The far right are not about to take over France. I am not being blase, extremists groups will do better at times of economic crisis, because people need someone to blame, and immigrants fit that bill. (hence the rise in UKiP and the EDL)
I see absolutely not coonection between immigrants drowning in the Mediterranean sea and the far right winning an election in France.
You can't really blame the EU for people wanting to leave Africa, that has been happening for thousands of years. You wouldn't blame the EU for us electing a Coalition Government, so why credit them with a minor bye election win for someone in France?
