Labour still ahead, Libs in the doldrums, along with UKIP. When are the Tories going to make that spurt that they need ? Will they leave it until the final lap, like Mo did at the Olympics ?

LOL.

If they closed that gap mikey.........what would you have to "blather" on about?

Afternoon Sqad, or perhaps evening where you are !

I can always find something to blather on about, I am no one-trick pony !. Gas prices, British racism, daft people seeing bl00dy angels are all on the agenda today.

But I have to admit...politics is my favourite you know !
LOL....good on yer mikey.
There'll be no spurting if internet porn is banned.
Let me qualify that. I meant it could be a vote loser, of course.

Zacs...you are a very naughty boy...go straight to the back of the class.
Odd that - IPSOS MORI recently provided some poll results, from a sample of those who said they would definitely vote in the next general election - and in that poll, Labour and Conservative were neck and neck.

Were I a Labour strategist, I would actually be somewhat concerned that, despite the long months of austerity, Labour have been unable to persuade the public that they represent a better option than the Tories in the next general election, especially since the economy is finally starting to show some early signs of recovery.

Personally, I really think we are probably going to see yet another Coalition, although it might be a LibLab rather than a ConDem one.
dont worry mikey you'll get the labour tozzers you so yearn for and then theyll totally wreck the economy as they always without fail do (thats the only thing theyre actually good at doing) and then where will you be ?

That insult would carry perhaps a bit more weight had the Conservative Governments also led to stable and prosperous economies, such as the great stable economy of the early 90s... oh...

The people will have spoken baz...its called democracy.

So if the present Government, which some people describe as a coalition, are doing such a great job with the economy, why have the Tories been behind Labour in almost every Poll, since soon after the 2010 Election ?

If Labour are so hopeless, as you have often said they are, why are they more popular than the Tories ?
because most of the electorate are gullible mugs
Heal thyself -- after all you buy all that Tory crap about the Left only being good for ruining the economy...
\\\\and in that poll, Labour and Conservative were neck and neck. \\\

Never seen that before in this Coalition period.

\\\\Were I a Labour strategist, I would actually be somewhat concerned \\\

I would be more than"somewhat concerned."

If the economy continues to grow and Labour cannot regain that gap again, then why do you think that it may well be a LibLab government, surely it will be a Conservative win.

I would prefer either a Labour or Tory outright majority than another Coalition.
I would prefer a single party majority over another coalition sqad. To be clear, I am not in favour of another coalition - its just that the maths and the demographics of voter distribution favour it on the current polls.

There are some articles on it somewhere, which I can probably dig out if you like, but I think if the Tories are to win an outright majority in the next General Election, they would require a voter intentions poll to favour them over Labour by something like 20 points. Anything less, unless the LibDem vote collapses completely, favours a narrow Labour majority or more likely a LibLab coalition.

Even if the economy maintains the current rather feeble rate of recovery, I doubt that is sufficient to translate to that kind of lead.
How much would that calculation change in the event of Scottish Independence?

Actually that's an interesting question -- what happens in a 2015 Election if the Scottish returned a "Yes" vote to Independence, but presumably the process of becoming Independent has not concluded? Do the Scottish people still get to vote for MPs, of which most will be Left-Wing ?
Not according to Tory strategists, Jim, at least not according to this article of theirs that I read :)

"If Labour are so hopeless, as you have often said they are, why are they more popular than the Tories ? "

Because they are addicted to giving away other people's money and they believe that the way to make the poor richer is to make the rich poorer. Large numbers of people (many scarcely educated to basic literacy and numeracy levels courtesy of the State education system) subscribe to this philosophy and believe it is ideal for them as they will be handed barrow loads of dosh for sitting on their ar5es. They believe "the government" has limitless supplies of cash which they accrue by magic and that a Labour administration is the only variety that will put much of it their way.
Well that has put the record straight, NJ ! It's much what the Republicans said about losing to Obama.

Mrs Thatcher was successful. Why do you think that was?
