If any of us parked there our cars would be towed and impounded plus a large release fee.

But these FRENCH 'travelers' seem to be able to do what they please?

What is wrong with bringing in the army, towing their caravans to the channel and chucking them in.

No doubt this is yet another 'benefit' of being in the EU !

would they?
from a privately owned car park?
under what law would the owner of a car park be entitled to remove and impound our cars?

can you link to examples of this happening in privately owned car parks?
No, our cars wouldn't be towed and impounded if we parked there.
Bollards!

Don't worry, everything is under control.
The Trust have issued them a letter telling them to quit the premises by 4 p.m.

If that doesn't fix it, I don't know what will!

LOL Chil

what's the worst a hospital can do?

send the night shift out at 4 am to wake them all up and take their temperatures?
The hospital will have to do the same as any other landowner unfortunate to have this problem - go to court.
If the hospital blocked the exits from the car park could the travellers go to court to get an order allowing them to get their caravans out?
When I saw a site entrance/exit get blocked they just caused great damage to grass verges and small walls to move out their vehicles.

If they do get blocked in the local authority will be under an obligation to provide toilets, electricity and phone lines will have to be provided. I think everyone would like them to move somewhere else not hold them against their will

I assume someone is going to go in and check for tax disks on the vehicles?
Why would they have tax discs? They are French registered vehicles and don't need tax discs if they are here less than 6 months.
As French pikey's I'm wondering if they'll be going locally door to door selling cloves of lucky garlic?
Yeah but of they are clamped for 6 months then they'll need a tax disk ;-)

I'm sure the hospital staff would be only too pleased to see it sorted 6 months and more down the line.

Great Zeuhl and HC, there is a hospital near where I work, didnt realize i could just park there for free.

Shall i try it tomorrow and cite you two when there is a problem?
^

Yes

let us know if your predicted towing and impounding happens?

or whether you were exaggerating?
Certainly can't park for free in my local hospital but the most they can is take me to court for breach of contract. They certainly cannot tow away and impound my vehicle, nor prevent me from leaving the car park.
//.....nor prevent me from leaving the car park//

oh yes they can - see http://www.stockport.nhs.uk/29/parking-information - "Vehicles without a valid ticket or permit may also be clamped."
Not sure who these 'french' travellers are... more like roms who are awaiting being expulsed from France.
Luckily I don't live in Stockport

It is illegal to clamp vehicles on private land:
