Not sure why not ASOG...perhaps Jeffrey Archer or Jonathan Aitken might do a better job ?

Or maybe Nigel Evans ?
Well, I am not a fan of Keith Vaz, but watching him interview the three policeman, he satisfied me, that he was doing a good job.

6 years chairman of the home affairs select committee

yep I'd say so
On the button Sqad...listen to the message rather than try to shoot the messenger !
Chairman of the Home Affairs select committee.
Yes, that is the right man.
Why might he not be?
jim........AOG's point, I think, is that Keith Vaj is scandal compromised with more than a touch of corruption adhering to himself.

I suppose..........set a poacher to catch a poacher.
is there something about his appearance that would lead you to believe otherwise?
We need someone who recognises dodgy dealings and lies when he hears them. I think he'll do a good job.

Oh dear I have touched the 'coloured' nerve button yet again.

One could equally say that is it because of his 'appearance' that some are more than ready to ignore his chequered past.
Touché
I wasn't aware of any chequered past, although I'm sure the name is familiar in a less than saint-like context. Either way, it seems as if he's the best MP for the job at the moment, but that's not saying too much.

Did you not read the wikipedia link,

But carrying out a Google search I came up with this site, which makes interesting reading.

Spot on, Ludwig - you wouldn't appoint a nun to conduct an inquiry into a rape case.
He is doing an excellent job in the chair.

Of course, one could say that you need dishonest policemen to catch dishonest people; they think alike !
AOG

What are you inferring...

That Vaz will not be impartial?
Or that he has it in for the police?
Or that he is a crook?

The fact is, he has been Chairing this Committee for 6 years and despite his chequered past, most observers think he is doing an excellent job of it.
AOG, do you know something of his character that would disbar him from this inquiry?
you mention colour, aog, I did not.
AOG

You seem to have a bit of an obsession with Mr. Vaz.

jno, you inferred it. If you didnt intend to then explain "is there something about his appearance"

I'm not sure about him, not because he is Asian jno but because of who he is. We shall have to see I guess.
