Whilst I fully support Brian Cookson and his 'new broom sweeps clean' approach he should not be having any dealings with Lance Armstrong.
This is a man who consistently lied for 10 years, perjured himself under oath at depositions and was the only rider at US Postal who failed to assist WADA and USADA during their investigations.
I wouldn't believe him if he were asked to give me his date of birth.
Anything he says would have to be taken with a huge pinch of salt, IMHO he cannot be trusted to be 100% truthful in any setting.

Also... as you well know, there were very few clean riders throughout his period.
Just because he was crucified (partly as a way for the Americans to assert moral judgement, and the validity of their governing body) doesn't mean that he was either the only bad one, or shouldn't be used for catching other cheats.

But this is a person who has consistently misled and been economical with the truth even during his Oprah 'confession'.
The same guy who days before he knew he was to be banned and stripped of his TdF titles tweeted a picture of himself at home 'just chilling' with the 7 yellow jerseys as the backdrop.
He had his chance quite some time ago to come clean and comply with all the investigations but no, he was more upset during the Oprah show about his lost revenue from sponsorship than anything else.
Anything he does now will be (as ever) self serving and will be more for his benefit than the UCI's.
If possible, read 7 Deadly Sins by David Walsh and/or The Secret Race by Tyler Hamilton to get a full picture of the sort of narcissistic, megalomaniacal control freak the UCI would be dealing with.
He doesn't have an ounce of contrition in his body.

I'm sure he'd find a way of injecting it.
I think you're missing the bigger picture though. He's part of a culture of drug cheats in the sport.
Which clean rider did they give his victories to? Oh, that's right, they didn't! Because they were (nearly) all on it!

It's an embarrassment for the sport.

Very true. Didn't stop LA from phoning the UCI to inform on other doped riders whenever they beat him though!(He once did it to Tyler Hamilton, his former team mate).
The guy had the authorities in his pocket, no other rider did so even when the majority of the peloton were doped LA ensured that even then it STILL wasn't a level playing field!
