I have no sympathy with them whatsoever. The number of fires they have to attend these days in which they have to walk into a burning building has reduced dramatically over recent years. Most of them have second jobs and to retire at 50 or 55 is ridiculous. There is lots of work they could do until 65 which isn't physically demanding. Let em strike if they want and government should not give in.

What exactly are the Fire Brigades supposed to do with their significant number of employees in their late 50s who (based on the three retired ones I know personally) have knees and backs so knackered they are physically limited in what they can do?
