Clearly the public have lost all confidence in the EU but leaving aside our personal views on the subject, do you think a major nation leaving would precipitate a stampede for the exit? I mean If you where a net contributor, would you hang around if one of the few left?

As to what the EEC was and the EC is now, chalk and cheese, what they signed up to back in the day is not what is on offer now. The thought of more countries joining up to the EU, when will it be Turkey's turn, fills me with dread. This is a nonsense to suggest Britain would fall to pieces if we were not part and parcel of the EU, and what Germany gets it loads of dosh from the other nations, it's the leader of the EU in all but name. Ask the Greeks how they feel about Germany, and indeed ask Germans how they feel about bailing out the people and the country, they didn't and don't like it, some who were interviewed for a newsnight report said they were sick to death of supporting them and other tinpot nations. As to going to war again and the reasons we should all be one happy family, doesn't hold water either, we are more likely to end up in a war with those in the ME, and heaven help us if that happens.
NJ, you are stamping on the Left wing utopia of 'all equal'(and so controllable by the state - do as I say not as I do). Shame on you!!
Of course there is a massive difference between being bigoted and learning the language of the country you live in. Perhaps Mickey you could advise how English speakers could be educated in say, Paris. It certainly wont be taught in English!
TTT, I would expect a domino effect. If one leaves then others would follow. that is why the EU insist on elections until they get the right answer!!!
