/// why is this in news? ///

Fireworks fired at Buckingham Palace

A fire started near the Victoria Memorial a few yards from the gates of the palace.

Hundreds of masked protesters clashed with police who were wearing riot gear..

Glass bottles being thrown at the police.

Famous 'Comedian' joining in the protest.

And a bonfire on Westminster Bridge.

Isn't any of this 'NEWS'?

If some of these things were happening at your 'front gate' never mind the monarch's 'front gate', wouldn't you also expect it to be reported on?

LG, you can already spoil your ballot by writing None of the Above on it. But there might well be something to be said for making that a formal, countable choice.
@jno Aye, thats what I mean. I think it should be made a formal option on the ballot paper - something like "never in a million years I am going to vote for this useless shower of overprivileged drones out to stuff their own pockets at the taxpayers expense" :)
If he incited violence, why wasn't he arrested, in fact why wernt; there loads of arrests.

And where was the water cannon?

Oh, forgot the lefties wont let us use that.
YES Aog, those things ARE news. However "who finds russell brand funny" (your question) is not
yeah, the lefties won't allow the use of AK-47s on protestors either, ymb. Tough luck.
//March: The demonstrators were protesting about austerity cuts, the bedroom tax, and local cuts//

The "Bedroom tax" whoopsie - isn't that a bit off-message for the Mail ?
Ymb

That Conservative Woman, Teresa May is in charge of the water cannons.

She difinately is not a 'leftie'.

/// Are you saying he does not have the right to protest/demonstrate,
AoG?. ///

No that I am not, but what I do take exception with is the need for him to take their protest to the gates of Buckingham Palace.

The occupant of this residence live a life style that no of us could ever aspire to, but she (that is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II) is not a political figure and hence cannot alter anything that our politicians of all parties choose to enforce.

Mr Brand and his followers would have therefore been better employed targeting their protests at the real seats of political power, the Palace of Westminster, or Downing Street maybe?
"minister in charge of water cannons" I like that job title
I've never been that clear as to why we dont use water cannon - I don't think it's likely to be much more dangerous than other methods if used responsibly.

Oh there were 15 arrests - No idea why the Mail didn't report that - possibly because they wanted a demo-out of control story and an effective and proportional police response didn't fit that narrative.

Or maybe that's just the cynical leftie in me and the real reason is that they're rubbish journalists
//Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is not a political figure and hence cannot alter anything that our politicians of all parties choose to enforce.//

Right - so I guess the weekly conference with the Prime Minister is for a quick game of Bridge then?

/// That Conservative Woman, Teresa May is in charge of the water cannons. ///

That may well be, but it is still the 'lefties' who wont allow them to be used?
i find him funny.

i also find it amusing that ymb says this about RB

"Brand is an odious ponce of a man, the sort you would punch in the face outside the pub. "

and then goes onto complain he wasn't arrested for inciting violence......

I'm pretty sure he's not the type I'd punch in the face outside a pub McFluff what about you?

Perhaps YMB meant that RB was the type that you'd punch in the face if you just so happened to be a pompous intolerant reactionary with anger management issues

/// YES Aog, those things ARE news. However "who finds russell brand funny" (your question) is not ///

That is the fault of those that insist that AOG should actually supply a question, re:"What's the question".

So my 'QUESTION' headline was actually a lead up to the link regarding the protest, this type of thing is often used in journalism.

So perhaps in future it will be best to read the 'NEWS' link before remarking on it not being news.

// That may well be, but it is still the 'lefties' who wont allow them to be used? //

No it isn't. It is up to the Home Secretary. She is not a leftie. She allows in in some parts of the UK but not in England.
Would the right handed allow them to be used Strange never thought there was a difference
