Was The Head Teacher Correct?

Just been watching my local news; there is a school in Digby near Sleaford where the Head asked the children to take their poppies off for their school photographs, citing that it would date the pictures in years to come. The head has now backed down apparently after complaints from parents. Did they have the right to do this for what I see as such a trivial reason? I have numerous pictures of my nephews at school with paper daffodils on as the photos were taken on or near Saint Davis Day!

I don't see the problem.
I think the head's request was perfectly understandable, but the parents didn't agree so he has backed down.
So everyone is now happy.

No, no throbbing vein triggerhippy. I just believe that everyone, whatever their age, has the right to make up their own minds if they want to wear a poppy or not.

Seems like a lot of fuss. No one said the kids couldn't wear poppies, just that they couldn't wear them for the photos. Fair enough, the head's school, the head's rules - wish these heads wouldn't keep backing down though.

I must admit reading the replies I do wonder if I had a knee jerk reaction when I saw it on the tv. I can see that if it was a group picture then it would be easier on the eye if all the children didn’t wear poppies, or all of them did. As triggerhippy said it wouldn’t take 5 minutes to take them off and then put them back on again.
