Paxman's interviewing style of Brand was just to try and provoke him - I don't think they represent Paxman's personal politics. And the reason he sneers at politicans is because they have earned it time and again. Well might he sneer.
This is the opening salvo from Paxman's last major interview with Blair:
Prime Minister, there aren't enough doctors or nurses. There aren't enough teachers. There are more cars on the road than when you came to power. The train service doesn't work. Violent crime is rising. Is that what you meant by the new Britain?
Exactly, sp, Paxman is paid £1 million (is that all ? Blimey, the likes of Clarkson and Norton get more than that), to ask difficult questions and cross -examine those he interviews. He does that on behalf of all of us; his personal opinion of the case is immaterial and must, and does, make no difference.
And if he seems to be, or is, sneering at politicians, it could just be that he is doing that for all of us, as above
I like Paxman. He is not afraid to broach difficult subjects and put politicians on the spot. Saw him on Graham Norton show and others seemed to agree with his stance.
Clegg claimed when he was elected as leader of the Libdems that he would never work with the Tories. Based on this I voted for him at the last election because I NEVER want the Tories in Government. Clegg betrayed me and thousands of voters like me just for personal power. Kromovaracun describes him well.
Canary...can I gently suggest that if you really don't want the Tories to be in power, perhaps you should have voted for Labour, instead of Vote-Lib-Get-Tory. Of course you may be unfortunate and live in a Tory constituency, when tactical voting normally makes sense, for which I sympathise.
