Surely a link to archived speeches is a good thing? Especially if Cameron wants to promote 'open government'.

Does hiding away a decade's worth of speeches smell suspicious to you?

Blimey, what next? Burning books?
Yes. The speeches are for the ten years up to the last general election. What is the harm in being able to access what was said just before the election and finding what was promised? (I have just answered my own question)

This is part of the party's rebranding; it would be embarrassing if we could discover, from its own website, why it was termed "the nasty party".
Are they a matter of record elsewhere? If so - I am not to worried. They need to be able to get rid of their ghosts as much as any party/movement is they want to move on.
As far as links from their website are concerned, I suppose they should be able to present themselves in a way that they judge to be current and advantageous.

Most organisations would do the same

I would hope however that the archive is still available to researchers and historians - any attempt to erase history would be sinister

AB Editor - that's the odd thing...not only have they been deleted from the Conservative Party website, but all traces had been erased from the Internet Archive, the public record of the internet!

That's press releases too!
If you think about the kind of wind and guff that politicians promise in the hope of election, and the promises they break or ignore once they get elected, wouldn't you want all that embarassment erased?

Word to the wise - start getting rid of the Department For Transport's support of HS2 now, before it bites you in the backside a few years down the line.

But then there's the other side...it makes it more difficult for supporters of Tory policies to say, "There, I told you so" when they have got something right.
I am sure, if you really search, you will find a transcript or two around somewhere.
I'm reminded of the Soviets airbrushing Trotsky out of historical photographs.
if you want Tory press releases, look on the news pages of the Mail
Here you go

I resisted the temptation to suffix that with, "...not that this is likely to happen that often".

But I decided to take the high road for once.

You'd have thought so, wouldn't you?

But the party has deleted all links from search engines too according to data collected by Buzzfeed.

Weird.
Well it's not like Noo Laybore have any embarrasing speeches to hide is it!
Anyone remember this Labour classic?
".......Sir, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability, and I want you to know that we are with you, hatta al-nasr, hatta al-nasr, hatta al-Quds [until victory, until victory, until Jerusalem]." -

Quite so T3

So have Labour magicked theirs away?

Do you have a link?
Well here's one that is still on the internet
