By "these immigrants" do you mean the Roma, AOG? The tenor of your post suggests , with its reference to the NHS, that you may mean all immigrants, in which case you would wish all immigrants deported , would you?
Or do you pick and choose, so that any immigrant who breaks the law or is, in your judgment, badly behaved and annoying to the rest of us, be deported?

The Jews serve as a particularly good example of people who came here and were subjected to the same kind of prejudiced comment we see now being directed at the Roma. They have thrived despite the prejudice and are now a integral part of our society and give much to it. In time the later groups of newcomers will do much the same.

White people are not allowed to say anything for fear of being accused of being racist.

You know that you can speak freely seeing that it is only Roma Gypsies and not Muslims or Blacks that are open for criticism.

AOG , I couldn't think of a catch- all adjective or epithet for Pakistanis and the others you now cite. Can you? Jews are dishonest, the Welshman is a thief, but otherwise I failed. The only thing your list has is that all are black or brown but no one insulting adjective fits them specifically. I suppose I could try 'Somalis are pirates' !

But to be serious - I think the Jewish analogy works (with regards to Jewish people) because it was your generation and generations before yours that were so openly anti-Semitic, and classed Jews as being greedy and disreputable.

AOG, I object to any bad behaviour. I suspect that Roma who settle here will learn to fit in,and if any break the law they will learn as quickly as our regular citizens do. If they do persist in breaking the law, they should be sent back. Unfortunately we can't do that with our own persistent offenders

baz, not only were they singled out by the NF in the seventies, but Jews were not allowed in certain golf clubs. We may take it that they had the money, and not from benefits, to do so. Why was that? What was the threat from Jews that so obsessed people? Why were they disliked just for being Jewish, so anti-Semitism was rife in polite society?
