All looks very bland without the blue bits:

What about a new design? Be nice to incorporate Wales somehow.

If Scotland or indeed anyone else was to leave the UK I doubt if the flag would change. It's a historical and not even accurate (being without Wales) representation. So going to the considerable bothèr of changing it would seem unlikely. Maybe the rest of the UK could pay Scotland a fee to keep the blue bits
Replace the blue with green (Until the Welsh nob off)

so you want to stay in the UK then maggie?
Surely it's "if Scotland leave the UK?" When last I checked the pools suggested a "no" result to Independence.

let us have just the red and white and be done with it
Once Scotland gain Independence, a Skull and Crossbones Flag should be ok :-)
that used to signal before it became a pirates flag, a sign of illness, death on board, not sure that is a good idea.
It looks quite jolly without the blue.
Alex Salmond will make Johnny Depp deputy PM :-)
The flag in the OP overlooks a feature of the original design. The crosses of St Andrew and St Patrick share the diagonals so each is half thickness. If the cross of St Andrew is removed, the cross of St Patrick will be shown fully.
Don't worry about it , it's never going to happen.
I just want to know if Salmond will have the grace to resign when the independence referendum is a resounding 'NO'.
I think it will depend on how close or otherwise the result is. If it's a landslide NO vote, then Salmond will have little option but to resign, having tried and failed.
The scots won't go. They know which side their bread is buttered
The cross of St. George with a harp in the left top corner and a sheeps head or leek in the top right, problem sorted.
The Scots aren't 'going' anywhere, they're staying exactly where they are, only, after September 2014, they'll be managing their own affairs without the Westminster hut dwelling monkeys on their backs.
