Personally I think you should at least have an annual eyetest by an optician signing you off as having good enough eyesight past this age.
Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes or so and cost a few quid in most cases

She'll be summonsed for careless driving and banned until she passes a test, which will mean forever, and/or she will be shown to have some medical condition which has the DVLA preventing her from driving.
She must have been able to get her licence renewed, because of her age, which says something about any questions you are asked when you have to do it

how many accidents involving elderly, and how many involving young men, weigh up that and see who comes out as the most likely to have an accident.
some elderly have good skills, eyesight late into life, by all means be tested for eyesight over a certain age, but some rely on their vehicles to get from A to B, if they don't drive, can't because someone decided they were too old, then like as not they will be stuck in doors, vegetating.
