The 3 men attacked members of the public for holding hands, being immodestly dressed and drinking alcohol. They said the wanted Sharia Law and were patroling Bethnal Green.

How can this possibly not be religiously aggravated? They attacked people for not following a religious law. Why were they let of this more serious offence?

but they are not just killing the Infidel, they are killing other Muslims, men, women and children. Watch the news, read the papers, go on line, Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, all the same.

I chose to spend a long time working with a charity that supports vulnerable young people (counselling big brother kind of thing).
I mentored a number of teens, some of whom were Muslim and a couple who held some very reductive views, and I know through this charity that we had a positive impact on their lives and the way they view others.
So specifically, what is anyone doing? Apart from complaining?

Muslim's have fought wars with other muslims for centuries for not being 'muslim' enough or for being the wrong kind of muslim. According to the koran they aren't supposed to do this but it seems that the more 'muslim' you are the more you can ignore the koran. I don't think there is anything non muslims can do about it.
sp, if our governments, who after all are laughingly the ones in charge stick their heads in the sand, can i ask you what ordinary people are supposed to do about the situation, do you think we should have to make the changes to them, to sway them from a life of discord or hatred to their countrymen and women, those born into this society, country should thank their lucky stars, because they could have been born in some s hite backwater, walking ten miles to get water, or if a girl be subjected to FGM or married off to a man old enough to be her grandfather. It is always us that is supposed to persuade others from their ways, why? Surely one has been provided with enough ammunition to live a decent life here, free schools, chance to go to Uni, hospital, GP treatment, and lots more besides, i never understand this idiocy of following doctrines of some country, religion, culture thousands of miles away you have never even been to, let alone been part of. Born here you have endless advantages, many denied to billions across the globe.

You overlook the nature of the fundamentalist mindset. Apart from the fact that anyone who doesn’t believe as they do – other Muslims included – are deemed fair targets – to them it is an honour to die for Allah and Islam (which means ‘submission’), so any faithful Muslim who happens to be caught up in the flack is supposed to be willing and happy to give his life, sure in the knowledge that his reward will be eternity in Paradise.
