they just go back to a Country where their religion is welcome.

Young children out shopping with their parents must have been frightened to death, seeing all those chanting women in Burkas!

I bet the shopkeepers were not to pleased, with only 10 days to go before Xmas, Muslim or not?

Peter the words or actions have to be a threat. Saying "I'll send you a Christmas card" is not a threat , ordinarily. If I know that you have a phobia of Christmas cards, it is.

Not every threat is illegal , of course. It may be justified; there may be reasonable grounds for making it, or it may only be illegal if the intent is that the recipient will fear that it will be carried out, for example.
60 nutters are at it again, you mean, trt.

Muslim leaders have condemned the stunt and sixty people do not represent Muslims. They are nutters who happen to be Muslim.
sadly a few can make a difference, it just takes time.
no one else has done this have they, settled in the East end, poor area admittedly, and proclaimed that this and that should be outlawed because of their ways, religion
my Jewish friends who lived near Brick Lane would be horrified by this.
emmie

But ironically, Jewish people faced anti-Semitic attacks in the East End throughout the 50s to 70s, despite the fact that they assimilated quickly.

If the threat of 40 lashes was literal, them I can't understand why they were not arrested for 'using threatening language or behaviour'...

...unless the police were wary because that case a couple of years ago when the Christian preacher was arrested and then later released without charge. He was quoting from the Bible stating that 'homosexuals will burn in the fires of hell'.

Thing is - he was quoting directly from the Bible.

If the Koran states that those who sell alcohol will receive 40 lashes, then technically have they committed a crime.

It would be different if they had shouted, "If you sell alcohol, we will come back to give you 40 lashes".

Does anyone know what was actually said?

But beside the legal implications, what they're doing truly makes them scumbags, because they're stirring up hatred - which will not be reserved for them and their band of butters, but across whole communities.

Personally, I think if you have come to the UK, and don't like the licensing laws, you should try France, where everyone is slightly drunk all the time. Now there's a challenge worthy of your cause...
For 'butters' read 'nutters".

iPad autocorrect on the march again...
There was a counter demonstration by members of the EDL. Which would be more likely to frighten children, drunken yobs or sober women protestors?
women dressed head to toe in black, veiled with nothing showing, that is my nightmare sandyr
perhaps Jews did get flak, however as you said mostly assimilated, though some never did, you only have to look at a number of orthodox Jewish people in the capital. But i would stress they didn't march down the street telling others how to think, behave, whilst Muslims have, a few perhaps, but that to me is a few too many.
Choudary is a broccoli stirrer, and should be outlawed, sadly the man was born in Britain, so we can't shunt him into the sidings.
sandy, if you look a the video link it shows but parties having their say.
i already commented on it,
Arrest all those, for Conspiracy to commit assaults, who verbally threaten or hold placards stating they will administer 40 lashes to purveyors of alcohol.
sp the same, both give their views, however one chap says why should they come down the street and tell us what we can and cannot do, if it's in the Qu'ran that is their business, it isn't in mine, nor for the many restaurants, pubs in the area, and they are not all Asian that are in Brick Lane, many are rather smart establishments...

/// There was a counter demonstration by members of the EDL. Which would be more likely to frighten children, drunken yobs or sober women protestors? ///

The old overused ploy of accusing others so as to turn the attention away from the more dangerous groups.

Nice to witness the police standing by with their hands tied behind their backs, but they wouldn't be slow to arrest if a member of the EDL stepped out of line.

These Muslims were using threatening behaviour why were they not arrested?
the Koran proscribes the drinking of intoxicants, but specifies no punishment since drinking is a personal sin and doesn't invade the rights of others.

the "40 lashes" comes not from the Koran but the hadith; Mohammed (sallallahu aleyhu vesellem) decrees 40 times beating with a stick is for he who drinks an intoxicant, carries it, distributes it, sells it and spends the money earned from it.

Just seen this thread - I doubt the children will be frightened, as per OP - it's their mothers and sisters in the burkhas.
Totally agree with you trt. If they hate our ways so much, then why don't they p*** off and I don't give a stuff if they were born here !!!
But they were protesting against other Muslims, not our way of life.

/// Aaw the usual weekly Mail islamophobic crap! ///

You should be pleased they can only find room for weekly reports on Muslim crap wrongdoings, seeing that they take place on almost a daily basis.

/// Why do ABers continue to post quotes from the Daily or Sunday Mail to the total exclusion of other newspapers? ///

It is not against AnswerBank rules is it, one could also say why do some continue to post quotes from the Guardian or BBC?

/// Do the subscribers get paid for their publication here by advertising the Mail wrag? Or does the AB get paid for publishing this weekly dangerous nonsense? ///

Now you are being even more silly, and you should first ask why do some Muslims continuously commit acts that gets them into the newspapers? And it is only dangerous to those that would rather not have such issues reported, don't try to shoot the messenger.

/// British Muslims are almost universally good law-abiding citizens, good parents and speak good english. ///

And are we to ignore the evils of some Muslims simply because others are good law-abiding citizens, good parents and speak good English? But what speaking good English has got to do with them being law-abiding I truly don't know.

/// If you must have an NHS operation, there is a very good chance that your surgeon is Muslim and similarly the Nurse - would you prefer to have the operation or refuse and possibly die? ///

Here we go that same old chestnut again.

I have to ask are we to accept the risks of terrorism and intimidation by Muslims on our streets simply because there are also Muslim Surgeons, Muslim Doctors and Muslim Nurses?

But please don't forget that even some Muslim Doctors can't be trusted wasn't it in 2007 that some Muslim Doctors tried to blow up Glasgow International Airport?

Was Dr Harold Shipman a Muslim?
