Nice to see some of our politicians are actually personally welcoming some of these latest immigrants on their arrival at the airport with a welcoming cup of coffee, all on expenses of course.

it was my point before, that if you advertise jobs on an exclusively Romanian site, how would any other national know they were available.
and if you had advertised in a British job centre, news paper, other outlets, then maybe some British nationals or others living here may have applied
how is it right that you advertise exclusively in a Romanian only site. i didn't actually think they could do that. Can British companies do that, advertise only for British workers?
why are you assuming that job vacancies here aren't advefrtised here, emmie? If I wanted a worker and Britons did't feel like applying, then I'll advertise abroad. Someone prepared to travel thousands of miles to take the job seems pretty dedicated to me; a Brit who cba because he doesn't like the brand of biscuit served with his tea does not.
from Mamy link, it's what i was replying to. How many British would access this site below.

British companies are turning to Romanian workers to fill job vacancies as restrictions on the UK labour market are lifted from today.

Employers are advertising nearly 5,000 positions on Tjobs.ro, a Romanian recruitment website which claims to help 160,000 find work.
what do you mean didn't feel like applying, they can't apply for something if they are not aware of it. If they stand in a UK job centre and see a job they can ask to see the details. They can't if it's on a Romanian website.
My link was purely to show how the latest recruitment was advertised, I have no way of knowing if any of those jobs had already been advertised here and remained unfilled.
These jobs may well be advertised here simultaneously or may have previously been advertised unsuccessfully.

Oh the anti British feeling by some on this site is verging on racism.

/// They can't if it's on a Romanian website. ///

Perhaps they can apply for an interpreter paid for by the Romanian Government?
of course we don't know that, but its the the way it reads, and that is how i took it to be, is that these companies are advertising on foreign sites,
i thought the first port of call for jobs in Britain would be in Britain, in job centres and the other areas of employment like agencies. If they did that and no replies, which going on the figures quoted i find amazing, then they have every right to advertise outside UK. But Gordon Browns comments of British jobs for British workers seems to hold little water, considering that anyone can apply.
They can't if it's on a Romanian website.

Well...

perhaps then...

they could look on a British website!!

There are quite a few, if they can manage this internet thingy. If they can't then perhaps they are not quite ready for the world of work yet.
we are not talking of British websites are we... would you consider looking at a Romanian website for a job in UK? sure many looking for work go to job centres in UK, agencies based here, perhaps this is all a bit of a waste of time. If more come so be it.
why do you resort to being patronising to make a point, British workers can i am sure access the websites you list, however we weren't discussing that.
Is it wrong of me to wonder why there is a need for taxi drivers and other workers when there are high levels of unemployed within the indigenous population?
ric. 60 million pound question, perhaps they don't get to them in time, who knows. let more come, see if we don't sink under this mess.

"Its a spurious and dishonest argument that is sometime put about by people that don't want any foreigners in Britain, for xenophobic and sometime racist reasons. "

whereas people of you knd just want to see this country, its culture, its identity, its heritage thrown away, you couldnt care less who or how many come here as long as they keep coming....mug
So, the MOs went to meet a plane coming in from Romania, and what they found was that practically all of the Romainians on it were already working here legally and were coming back from their Christmas holiday.

The guy who runs the site advertising UK jobs to Romainians was interviewed on the 1pm news on Radio4, and stated that in the last 6 months the number of people applying for those jobs had fallen. Or, if you want it another way, it's not the number of jobs advertised which matters, it's the takeup which is important.

Still, I suppose papers like the DM do need some kind of big headline to sell their stories and advertising, and if they can print something scary which will get their target audience wound up, so much the better.
pretty much like the 13,000 Polish who were estimated to arrive here way back when, when it was more over a million, some lie, some obfuscate, some don't care.
it doesn't have to be the DM that writes about these matters, the Guardian does it too... and other sites, papers, news, ad infinitum

*** Welcome to Britain! Labour MP Keith Vaz greets new arrivals on first flight from Romania (and even bought some a coffee) as doors open to more EU migrant workers today ***

Yes got to admit certainly a big headline, and of course it hopes to sell their stories and advertising, because isn't that what they and all the other newspapers are in business to do precisely that?

It's a wonder you don't accuse the Daily Mail of employing the use of a Keith Vaz look-a-like so as to somehow make an excuse for the need for that person to be shown having coffee and welcoming the immigrants into this country.
