It seems that even the civil service thought the WW was nailed on. If only he hadn't blown it by celebrating victory before ......err Victory! Major must have thought it was his birthday!

Bit odd isn't it?

All the same I'd have actually have thought that they'd have been under the 30 year rule.

Then I discovered that there was a transition to a 20 year rule in place!

Looking forward to seeing the papers from MrsT's last days in office!
I can sort of see their point.

We all know how things are distorted or taken out of context, just look at some of the posts on here. They are briefing notes and undoubtedly would be ambiguous in some areas.

Mrs T's departing papers? Hmm could be interesting but I doubt they will actually give any surprises.
There were no Mrs T departing papers. She was ousted by her MPs not by the electorate. Even the civil servants were surprised by that.

As far as the papers written to brief Kinnock, I doubt there was anything interesting there. Can't understand why he information commissioner wants to surpress them. Possibly doesn't want to set a precedent, we normally have to wait 30 years for Government papers, so possibly doesn't want lots more early requests for info.
