So BG profits drop 6% to 571m so hardly piffling for a utility company and he now threatens the lights will go out.

Well they might do if we dont invest in power stations but that is a long term thing that has been outstanding for many years and I havn't seen the energy companies rushing to build new ones whilst profits were higher!

Looks like British gas may loose a few more customers due to this mans PR.

nice, hold us all to ransom, i am decidedly miffed as i am a low user of gas, but they slapped on a daily standing charge and now i am paying twice as much, gits

I dislike the way energy companies work, too.
But I suppose it could be argued that whilst there is a need to find more sources of power there are always objections to proposals to build more power stations or start fracking, and governments drag their feet as they don't want to be seen to upset opponents of nuclear power

i know that some are against nuclear power, but i can only see this as a better way of energy, the eyesores that are wind turbines and solar energy are a stop gap, the governments down the line have buried their heads in the sand over this issue.
