Don't joke, emmie; the Gibraltar fault could well move; the last time that it did, back in the 18th C (1755 to be precise), it took out lower Lisbon and there was a 10 foot tsunami in southern Cornwall. The city walls of Galway also collapsed as a result of it. It's overdue.

An earthquake has been recorded under the Bristol Channel, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has confirmed.

The 4.1 magnitude quake happened at about 13:21 GMT and was felt in Devon, south Wales and Somerset.

The epicentre was north of Ilfracombe, Devon, and south of the Gower, in Wales, and was at a depth of 3.1 miles (5km).

Devon and Cornwall Police said one caller in North Devon described it as "quite a violent tremor".

Apparently, it has caused £4 million of improvements in Plymouth.

It's been much better down here, allowing for some clean-up. Sunny spells interrupted by some heavy showers, no real wind though. Newlyn was amazing though. So was this....

why would anyone be daft enough to sit in their vehicle and watch it.

I know - we had that death of the young man who went to photograph the waves in the New Year, emmie. We think we are invincible at times, well some of us do.

Thousands of tons of water are on the land. That is going to put pressure on the rocks below. Not really surprising.

Well, I was born there so that might be exciting (to me). I remember when we had the last earthquake. It was out beyond Lundy, I think. My Mum said she heard it in the middle of the night and it sounded like a heavy lorry being driven past the house. Shortly afterwards, I was horse riding on Woolacombe beach and there was a big landslide at the Putsborough end. It was caused by that earthquake, apparently.

Joking aside, there was a tsunami in the Bristol Channel in 1607.
