Should We Run Our Country This Way ?

One thing I've noticed about this lot of politicians ,very few if any have had a real job outside politics.
I fear that is also true in teaching , it's a case of school -university - back to school.
Should you , can you , run a country or teach others about it ,from such a narrow backgrounds.?
For many jobs it probably doesn't matter specialising so early in life but for those two professions the wider ones experience of life the better.

One in seven MPs have never had a proper job, according to research.
And in addition to those who have absolutely no experience of working in the real world, many more have served only brief stints as lobbyists or public relations advisers before entering politics full-time.
The study by the House of Commons Library reveals a dramatic rise in the number of so-called professional politicians, whose numbers have increased almost four-fold over the past 30 years.
Ninety MPs have never held a job outside politics, against 20 in 1982."

Thanks LG that makes interesting reading . I notice lots of them describe themselves as journalists if they write the odd letter to a publication of any sort It is an almost meaningless term ( for journalist read ' no proper job ).it's just something to write on your CV.
I had a neighbour who kept a few chickens and described himself as a journalist because he wrote the odd letter to the poultry keepers gazette. I wonder if Cameron and Miliband keep chickens ? No maybe not, too down market !
