Malaysian Airliner Mystery.

This missing airliner is puzzling me somewhat. The area that it was flying is a busy place, air-traffic wise. How can it disappear from the radars of the various Air Traffic Controls that it was flying through ?

I can understand if it suddenly plunged into the sea but now they are saying that it altered course and probably flew for a few hundred miles off its projected course. Don't planes have beacons that pinpoint their location ?

Is there anybody expert in this field here on AB that can throw any light on this affair ?

No sign of anything from it recovered. Perhaps it was abducted by aliens.
Don't think it was within range of the Bermuda Triangle.

It is a mystery, unless the Malaysian government has something to hide. I would have thought a satellite would have spotted something by now.
With the amount of technology and high-tech gadgets today, I am surprised that nothing have been discovered as yet.

But I can't understand why it "disappeared" from radar screens but there is no sign at that point of any debris. How do they know that it travelled 100's of miles from its last known point...isn't that a contradiction in terms ?
Quite a bit of discussion on here Mikey

Didn't it take weeks to find the Air France plane off South America a few years ago? Does seem odd though with all the modern gizmos, some reports are saying that the mobiles are still getting a ringtone.
Gizmonster's link has mysteriously vanished... how can this just happen?

This is a belter! every one is puzzled!
Usually what in the dark eventually comes to light. Hope sooner than later for this incident. .
It was NOT on radar depite the TV and news saying it was, Radar does not reach that far out. It was being tracked by the' Transponder' on board this is a type of radio beacon that sends a signal which can be picked up by satelite and records the position. It is looking increasingly likedly that the transponder either was switched of or failed.

As Alice said, curiouser and curiouser.
there is a possibility that the Malay government has not been telling the truth http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalking/2014/03/12/malaysia-mislead-search-allies-over-mh370-crash-search/

Not only does the ACARS transmit info about the aircraft but that plane was fitted with RR Trent engines and ACARS constantly transmits performance info back to RR. Somebody somewhere knows exactly what time that info stopped being transmitted and they are not telling.
Isn't there any film on satellites ? It is claimed that all sorts of things can be seen via satellite - why not this ?
A satellite needs to be around to observe, for a start - then it has to be focused on the particular object that you want a picture of.
