Am I missing something here ? Gove himself went to Eton. Perhaps if he resigned from the Cabinet, it would even up the numbers a bit.

You are quite right Zacs...my mistake. Everybody can make mistakes !
It's quite amusing when someone bases their question on one tho. He he.

Yes probably naomi, and it was a misreading of the link, that was entirely my fault.

But doesn't anybody think its even slightly odd that a serving Conservative Minister should berate his own Cabinet for having too many old Etonians ?
Nice recovery.
His honesty in speaking his mind rather than sycophantically making the right noises is rather commendable.
Mikey or Michael?
No....he is lining himself up for a possible leadership contest.
:o) Michael.
It was a rhetorical question for comic effect. Nice to see your smile tho, which shows my efforts were appreciated.
agree Sqad, as I think is Grayling
Ha ha! I know .... and they are .... and my smile was in lieu of my initial thoughts. ;o)
Initial thoughts. Mmm.
I tend to think it is common for folk in power in an organisation to promote and give power to those they see as "their kind". So when the organisation is making a right pig's ear of something they just try all the harder screwing it up, because they all back up each other and go alone with the prevailing view; trying to justify it to outside critics. Anyone around who speaks out and makes sense is quickly side-lined in the hope they'll go away.

Sqad may have hit on something there. If you see upcoming changes and want to line yourself up for a future benefit, be seen as the one who disagreed with the "old crowd", and so has the experience and wisdom to be prime candidate for leadership going forward.
... do red mists help?
^^That was for Zacs.

I have thought for some time that our current Home Secretary, Theresa May was in front running for daves job next summer. Can't really see Gove has much chance, as he is not said to be not overly liked by his Cabinet colleagues...well, at the Old Etonians !
I'm afraid you've lost me.
