For goodness sake when is it all going to end ? Once you start sorting people into representations because of their ethnicity you might just as well throw in the towel. EVERYONE should be chosen for ALL positions & jobs because of their ABILITY to do the job in hand NOT because someone with very little between their ears decides that we should have percentage representation in all areas.

I agree Ron, I find it deeply embarrassing how the political parties try to increase the quota of female MPs by having all-female candidates in some constituencies. If they're not picked on aptitude then the standards are lowered (if that's possible)

This quota nonsense just means that some people who are not really up to the job get employed and some who are really the best get left out. It actually increases racism not helps stop it.

I'd agree that quotas aren't the ideal solution -- but a company that claims to appoint its staff solely on merit of qualifications and experience, but is then staffed entirely white middle-class men ought to raise more than a few eyebrows, no? Either you could imagine that the company is not telling the truth and there is some latent racism going on there, or they are being entirely honest in which case presumably every other social group is being let down at another point in the system.

In either case, you don't really want to see such a company, and it should surely be taken as a bad sign if a company's ethnic/ gender mix isn't reflective of the population.
