i have heard that about lighter skin being considered 'better' too - not really sure why, just a general society thing i suppose
kind of silly and weird but its so ingrained, it will be a long time before it disappears, sadly
i guess i can understand people with very very dark skin, the sort that genuinely is almost black in colour, wanting SLIGHTLY lighter skin - for contour, definition, tone, to make features more visible etc, but i'd think only a few shades, not whiter than most white people!
she does look weird in that pic - she has gone a bit far.
theres probably also something of the natural desire to want the opposite of what you naturally are - straight haired want curly, short want to be taller etc etc - grass is greener type of mentality
