Since, as advised, there was a slope on the bridge, it has to come down to a matter of interperetation - and that is seriously hard to prove because it's one word against another.

If the show survives -- though it's hard to see the BBC pulling it, Top Gear is too popular.

I don't see this going very far, beyond an apology anyway. On the other hand, either the BBC didn't research offensive language properly, or it was deliberately meant to be a clever play on words with the use of the racist "slope". Not really worth £1 million, but still pretty short-sighted of the BBC to allow this to slip through.

I have never heard the term and I lived out there long enough. Good term for those next door neighbours of ours across the Tamar.

Don't think it will stick as there was a hell of an 'angle' to that bridge that they built.

I'm not sure the ambiguity defence will work very well, though we'll see. This is the sort of low-brow humour that we've come to expect from Top Gear so it's hard to see them not missing the opportunity to make this sort of joke...

Somebody else who fails to see the funny side of a show that's designed to be funny........probably more publicity in this one article for the actress than she's ever had as an actress.... The Daily Mail society..... Britain would be a more fun place without it!!

I saw the programme and thought absolutely nothing of the comment. JC made a fair point, there was a slope on the bridge. Ms Guha can feel free to sue me too if she likes.
