He has had enormous support from across the political spectrum. Even prosecution witnesses said he was a lovely guy. And his 'victims' continued to socialise with him after the alleged attacks took place. I think that speaks volumes.

Shame he won't be speaker now.

I think their names are protected in perpetuity.

I feel sorry for the accusers actually. They wanted parliamentary experience not experience in bed... and being interns they were doing it for ought. That is they were doing the parliamentary bit for nothing.
and You know they wanted a pint with their frenz and not be chased by someone in authority.

If one makes any damned sexual allegation - it seems now it must go to court. In a case where I was a character witness, the jury took eight minutes to clear. Everyone just said Oh well, picked up their briefs ( sorry pulled up their briefs) and walked out.

In 2003, Mr Evans was said to have indecently assaulted two men in their 20s when he approached them in public places while drunk and put his hand down their trousers.

The jury heard in his defence that these were examples of "drunken over-familiarity" and Mr Evans had no recollection of either event

That's a defence? "It wasn't that bad - except that actually I don't know if it was or not because I can't remember it"?

In faiarness, Evans wasn't a celebrity.

It seems getting all your friends in the witness box saying "I never saw him doing anythign wrong" is a good move. As if anyone would commit crimes in front of their work colleagues.
