About 10 years ago, Mr P and I were flying from a smallish English airport to an even smaller Scottish one. While we were in the big smoke, we had visited an adult shop and purchased an adult item. Both being over 18, we felt we had done nothing wrong or that it was anyone else's business. Our bags went through the x-ray machine and the juvenile security guard and her mate decided to search the bags knowing full-well what they would find. An exercise in trying to embarrass or humiliate me and Mr P. Mr P has the most brassy of necks ever and just stood there, holding eye contact with them as they giggled their way through his bag.

Very unusual - most of the airport security people I have dealt with at various UK/foreign airports have been friendly and efficient whilst doing a tedious (but highly responsible) job.
If only the same could be said of the appalling UKBA jobsworths.
Yet again I was in a ridiculous queue at Stansted last week - they know when the planes will land, they know exactly how many people are on them, yet they always, always, bloody always fail to open enough gates to deal with the queues.
The problem is that any sign of even the most polite comment/enquiry will have them reaching for the latex gloves and a cavity search ... so we all shuffle along and grit our teeth.
"Pocket Hitlers in Polyester" hardly covers it.

I cold fully understand why there was a bout of stripping at Manch airport.
