What are the RSPCA doing about the cruelty involving Halal slaughter techniques? And why haven't they done something about it already? I will never, ever, knowingly buy Halal meat.

I support ALF. We need to take physical action, protests and petitions are not enough!

it isn't anything to do with DM, i do eat meat, but quite honestly if i thought that they were slaughtered in a method that caused much more distress to the animal then i would stop or seek outlets that do not do halal. one doesn't know what goes on in any abattoir, however we have laws in place where the animals do not suffer unnecessarily, to kill the animals in the most humane way possible. no one knows for sure of course, i do see that, either that give up meat altogether

i don't want animals to suffer, they do so largely at the hands of humans,
they might kill for food or territory, generally we kill them for food, sport, and sometime unbridled cruelty. I like horse racing yet i know how cruel that can be. its always a paradox on animal welfare, i readily admit i eat meat, and fish, have visited several farms where the animals were not kept in ideal conditions, and have seen or rather ingested the disgusting stench of the chicken factories, that made me vomit,
so its not ideal, i don;t agree with animals being tested for products,
its seems barbaric. but we look at this with our human eyes, ears, emotions, but i do wonder that some things that can be changed should be, or not allowed in the first place.

You raise a number of good points Emmie but animals largely suffer in the hands of other animals. The food chain is far from sensitive about death. Humans now crusade like the Halal thing we discuss here. Tiny effect. We ban hunting with dogs but ignore the 200 million + wild animals killed by domestic cats, we decry people eating dogs and horses yet eat most of the other mammals ourselves. I find little sense in it
the cat situation has been a problem for years, and no one does anything about it, because by and large you can't, except keeping them indoors the whole time. i know they kill millions of birds, and other creatures, their hunting instincts are still there, we can't tame them no matter their domesticity, i had a lovely cat but he sometimes bought home unwanted guests, not nice at all. Humans are still the worse at animal welfare, kill as many fish in the sea by over fishing, industrial sized trawlers sweeping up everything in it's path, and those creatures that are not wanted will be consigned to the deep, not necessarily still alive.
we kill animals on an industrial scale because we are a large population, and that its relatively cheap to eat meat, where once it wasn't normal to have meat each day, now it can be.
