Should The Answerbank Allow Political Advertising?

Afternoon all,

On another thread someone mentioned that they've seen a few UKIP ads on The AnswerBank.

And this brought up the question: Should The AnswerBank Allow Political Advertising?

Our default answer is "yes, why not?" - we don't directly endorse any advertiser that appear on the site (except the obvious ones... like the owls in motoring...), but we do ask that advertisers stick to the rules of the site.

Would you personally find it off-putting to see certain parties advertised on these pages?

I don't see a problem, as long as adverts are taken from all parties. All or none would be my response.

That's some Tweet from Canary!
Buenchico

He did not stand as an EDL candidate. The EDL are a protest group not a political party.

A member of the EDL could stand for a political party just as say a Conservative Candidate might also be a member of the National Trust.

These would be paid for advertisements. You could not guarantee that ALL parties would wish to advertise on AB. No one should be barred, but if only UKiP wish to spend their money on AnswerBank, and none of the others want to, they should of course be allowed to.
Not me, as long as you get oodles of money, Ed, and keep that Wee Fat Haggis away from here......

Whatever you like, ed. Nobody takes any notice of them anyway;-)

Go ahead, Ed, no objections here.
Ed...for the record, if the BNP wanted to buy advertising space here on AB, would that meet with your approval ?
He doesn't endorse them, mikey
take whatever money you can from any party, all advertising is money in the AB coffers, can we have an advert for an Ann Summers party please.
lol

Now theres a party I'd vote for, baza.

Take the money, Ed.
Not worried by it at all.

Adverts sell one product against the other ... clothing, finance, furniture, or politics.

We can all make our minds up which fizzy drink we will buy, and which party we will support.

One thought. Let's assume that only UKIP decide to advertise here. Is there a danger that the site will then become associated with them by default? And will that put any potential new members off joining?
Is there no escape?
