The report says they were unable to contact the school the day they received the letter because it was shut. So they can close the school during term time but a child is fined if they miss a day. This whole absence thing needs looking at.

Because of the change to the rules about school time holidays there are loads of these sorts of stories doing the rounds. It was a mistake and he's apologised. What gets on my nerves is how these stories keep making it into the papers - families are grieving but still have the time to get their faces plastered all over the newspaper.
