Boris Johnson, in his Daily Telegraph column today, described Ukip and similar political groups in Europe as (quote) "pitchfork-wielding populists" who are on some sort of "peasants' revolt".
Now, I certainly have no sort of axe to grind on behalf of UKIP or Le Pen's people, but isn't 'peasants' rather too close for comfort to 'plebs' in the mouth of a Tory?

Not surprising they use insulting language, they just don't comprehend why the people are angry with the whole EU fiasco.

Yes indeed. Whilst I admire what he did for London 2012(attending every single silly photo opportunity that might help the cause) he does have the propensity to use the wrong terminology at times.
His choice of words/analogy could have been better, but then we expect nothing less from him.
Odd though that it's often seen as buffoonery. Had it been Farage describing a similar scenario, he'd have doubtless been flayed by the Left, the media and everyone inbetween who is looking for a bandwagon to jump on.

Did you know that Farage himself went to a posh Public school ? Also, his great-great grandfather came from German immigrant parents, something that UKIPs policies would almost certainly not allow these days ! People in glass houses, etc.

Of course if they are getting beaten at their own game they will resort to name calling, typical of all the main parties. I note that Wet Clegg looked even wetter today. Interestingly France and Greece have voted in their hardline parties too, which proves that it is not just this country that is fed up of the European Union and all it stands for. We need our own national identities first with some sort of European connection, not the way it is now.

Orderlimit...I myself am the offspring of Irish immigrants. I am merely pointing out that had UKIP been in existence all those years ago, Farage himself may not be here in the first place.

Mr Farage should bear his own genes in mind, before he criticises foreigners, which he does all the time.
