Do you have an "intention" to vote independent? If so, vote. There are some indies kicking around who may have people keeping them in power - these will be known: http:// en.wiki pedia.o rg/wiki /List_o f_UK_mi nor_par ty_and_ indepen dent_MP s_elect ed
"any number of pubs i know, including some of these weatherspoons outlets have punters in there very early, by that i mean well before 9am"
I've only ever seen that when it's very clear that somene is working the night shift (and has just finished). I'm sure there's other less reputable characters (all of the commons?) who wouldn't turn down a drink with their breakfast :)

That's akin to writing a blank cheque. An intent to vote independent may result in only a far left or a far right indepedent option being available. You can't reasonably hold such an intent beforehand.
Interesting to see that given UKIP are claimed to be a right wing party the present poll leaders are the Conservatives; so it seems they aren't losing much from a possible vote split after all.

TTT I am going to bring out one of my favourite words that I haven't used for ages. Its not universally popular with some here on AB, use it I will.
Drivel, at 09.09, mainly because I don't have any Marxists, neither am I a Marxist myself, although I am very fond of their old films, especially the one at the Opera.

Naomi...for my sins, I was a Financial Adviser from age 41, to 55, when I took a much needed early retirement. I am now working for the Welsh Government on a national health study, which is supposed to be part-time but really is more like full-time these days. I intend to retire fully in 4 years time when I am 65, and my own OAP kicks in.
On the subject of the OAP, no Government of any hue, not even the Tories under Mrs Voldemort, have ever shown any inclination whatsoever of doing away with it. It is a non-political party issue, as any changes made will come into force many years in the future.
We need a national debate about financing it of course, and this present administration, together with the previous Labour one, have tinkered with the terms and conditions somewhat, but more needs to be done, especially as people life expectancy is so much higher these days, than it was in the 50's and 60's.
More important than the reduced mortality rate is the much higher expectations that the present younger generation have for their retirement, then our parents and grandparents had. All my nieces and nephews say that they can't afford to save much, if anything for their retirement, and yet they have £500 of Mobile phone in their pockets, paying between £30 and £50 a month.

I have always been a "good" capitalist, naomi, and I tried to be a good FA. despite the last 5 years, until 2008, working for one the most shyster'ish* firm that I had even come across. I had better not mention them by name here on AB, as it might get me into trouble ! My ex-Boss will know its me and he is still there, making life unbearable for others.
I had the opportunity to run him over once, in the car park of a Taunton hotel, but chickened out. I am a natural automatic car driver and I had a manual, as a courtesy car for the day. I could easily have said that my feet got mixed up on the strange pedals, although convincing a Judge why it was necessary to reverse back over him, to make sure he was dead would have more difficult.
I left in October 2008, on advice from my Doctor, as the stress levels were unbearable. I was being constantly exhorted to sell risky investment products to elderly people, who didn't want to, nor could afford to take any risk whatsoever with their scant savings. But the first few years were good, when I worked for a small Friendly Society. Happy to be out of the game now though, although I miss the company car !
*...just made the word up !
