Actually this makes interesting reading anyway with regard to ages of drivers in crashes:)

The majority of young drivers who have paid the high price of insurance have done so with the help of parents. They are already at risk of having to resit their test if attracting a penalty in their first 2 years (I think) and of subsequently facing a premium beyond their range yet still some drive way beyond their ability, it doesn't stop them. The idea that they'll curb their spirit becaus they've got cheap insurance doesn't make an ounce of sense to me.
Assuming it's true and not a very late April fool's joke, it's a ridiculous waste of money.

As it says it's not going to be used on Operational Duties I fail to see how it's going to deter anyone!
//Avon and Somerset Police borrowed the Atom from local manufacturer Ariel for the summer while it promotes a new road safety campaign aimed at slowing down speeding motorcyclists. //

That's a bit of an oxymorn , isn' t it ?

They are promoting a ''a new road safety campaign aimed at slowing down speeding motorcyclists '' - so what do they do ? - they use a a vehicle which is inextricably associated with ,and is synonymous with speed as being cool - in the campaign ?

this makes interesting reading

Indeed, it's the drunk 25-34 year olds you have to watch out for. And the males. This doesn't actually astound me at all. I wonder if premiums are three times higher for men, reflecting their deadlier driving?

(I know, you'd need more information about total numbers driving and numbers of non-fatal accidents to be sure.)
// no waste of money, here. the police have "borrowed the car". //

Fair enough. I'm still wondering for what purpose. It's a stunt that makes them look like they've got caught up in the kind of boy racer mentaility they're supposed to be discouraging.

It should prove effective......
